Contrary to a popular belief, PTFE is not a by-product of the space programme first seen in 1957. PTFE was accidentally discovered by the chemist Roy Plunkett, who in search of cooling agents for refrigerators, experimented with tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and neglected to store a bottle with the gas in the cool store overnight. The next day the gas had been converted to PTFE. The manufacturing process that is used today is still named Plunkett process after its discoverer.

POLYFLURON®-PTFE is a virginal, paste-extruded PTFE that is outstandingly suitable for the pharmaceutical and chemical process industries (CPI) due to a universal resistance for use in aggressive media.

PTFE is remarkable for several special qualities:

  • Standard PTFE is very inert. Even aggressive acids, such as e.g. aqua regia, cannot corrode PTFE.
  • Over and above that, our POLYFLURON®-PTFE is nearly impermeable to gas and liquids, increasing decisively the service life of the components in demanding application environment.
  • Our POLYFLURON®-PTFE is available in anti-static quality for applications e.g. with solvents.

The quality of our products has highest priority. We only use raw material of renowned manufacturers. All our raw materials will already be delivered with material certificate 3.1 according to EN10204.

Our virginal POLYFLURON®-PTFE with its especially low permeation qualities, manufactured by paste extrusion, is the starting point of our quality products. Elaborate fabrication processes, constantly improved and modernised machines and extensive quality tests guarantees constant quality on highest level.

Our products are designed, manufactured, inspected and put on the market according to the European Pressure Equipment Directive. CE marking of products destined for the European market is standard. For the international market, design and selection of wall thickness can be made according to ASME sect. VIII, div. 2.
